Rolling Stones at Glastonbury.

Picture the scene.....

Charlie plays drums from the comfort of his Shackleton's high seat chair. Mick shouts "Are you doing alllllll right?" then holds his HMV horn to his ear to hear the replies. Keefy plays guitar from a comfy couch with a dolly bird either side - one to light his fags while the other mops his furrowed brow. Ronnie, poor Ronnie, has been superglued to a stool on castors, so he can get around without falling over, and his guitar is suspended from a contraption above his head coz "it's too heavy, man."

It is the best gig at Glaso that anyone can ever remember. :D :D :D

I so want to be there.......

You're just jealous WM, they've earned those wrinkles in many enjoyable ways; Mick's always been one of the ugliest blokes imagineable but blimey he's fit :D
It'll be fantastic and I'd love, love love to be there - hopefully the beeb will overdo the coverage :D

Oh I am not jealous Di, the Stones have always been the band, light years ahead of middle-of-the-road bands such as the Beatles, Dave Clark Five, Herman's Hermits, Freddie and the Dreamers.... ;) besides, I'm still wrinkle free. :P :P :P

They played Roundhay Park on their "Farewell" tour in July '82.... There were 125,000+ people inside the open air arena and another 60,000 of so of us on the Soldiers' Fields outside. It was some day/night. :o  :D

They'll not even physically make it onto the stage without a helicopter ...... after the recent wet weather, Glastonbury will just be a total swamp!

I thought you were going to say that you were going to be there Frank!

I'm also jealous that you saw them at Roundhay Park!

Isn't it just?
Plus I have some open-air concerts to go to in June as well and if I go to open air concerts in June then it rains. It's the law.

We didn't 'see' them Jo/Di, but we sure heard them as we sat outside the fence taking in the heady atmosphere of alcohol and, erm, 'herbal' cigarettes!

Security was supplied by Hell's Angels, which seemed to consist of them walking about with cans of Special Brew while taking wads of cash from those who had climbed over the fence, only to throw 'em back.

It wasn't worth it!

And I would love, love, love to be at Glasto but my wallet won't let me.

But at least you were there and it sounds more memorable than actually being on the inside

John just this minute asked me if I'm planning on going to the Leeds Festival because both Frank Turner and Green Day are playing, told him I don't do festivals  anyway, I'm seeing Frank Turner next month and Green Day supported by Kaiser Chiefs at the Emirates in June (stadium gigs are as outdoorsy as I get when it comes to music, hate them though).
