Coach wins.....

What a price difference!!!

I've been looking at train times/prices from Birmingham up to Glasgow in July and for the two of us it's going to be around £300 return.

Chatting to Jacob he suggested looking at the Megabus timetable. So I did. :D :D

£12 return for one adult! :o

Coach it is then!

The money we would've spent will now go towards a nice hotel in Glasgow. :D :D

Oh and it's only an extra hour and a quarter journey. :D :D

Wow that is a difference! :o That train ticket price is ridiculous! The system for ticket pricing here is bananas, sometimes you can get amazing bargains - B is travelling to London and back for around £25 next week, booked in advance and a lucky break with a special offer, but the same journey if she just fronted up on the day would be nearly 10X as much  Why don't they just make the price reasonable for everyone, like they used to be?

Jacob flew to Dublin this morning and his return flight ticket was less than a single train fare would've been from Nottingham to London!!

He took the coach. :D :D :D

The pricing system for trains is just ridiculous nowadays.

I can remember going from Birmingham to Penzance for just £12 return. (a long time ago, I'll admit)

Why does it all have to be so complicated now?

Ally, I have been using Megabus for the Birmingham meets. This year Leeds to Birmingham return is £5.

The coaches are clean and the seats are comfy and and there are USB powerpoints for smartphones, tablets and mp3 players.

Quick tip: Leeds and Birmingham are journey endpoints so I always get a choice of seat. If that is not the case with your trip one of you should do the luggage (if any) whilst the other gets on the coach as quickly as they can and "reserve" your seats.

When we first arrived we got a national express go anywhere for 2 weeks pass for a very cheap price. Hop on hop off as many times as you like. Only available to foreigners, if it's still around, you might qualify Ally
