Tom wanted to open a bank or building society account with a debit card and we found one that suited him at Nationwide. He already has a children's saving account with them as does Joe, we have a savings account and our mortgage is also with them. We changed the address when we moved and have received all correspondence eg statements for each account from them since moving.
I did the online application for him and it asked for him to take some ID into the local branch. He needed ID for himself so took his birth certificate and ID from one of us ("a gas or phone bill (this must be less than three months old and not for a mobile phone) from a parent or a guardian at the same address"). As both of those are dealt with online I had to contact them to see what else was acceptable so he had to take in the 2014-15 council tax bill as that clearly shows our address and obviously matches the address on the application.
He was told that his card, PIN etc would arrive within 7-10 working days.
Today is day 15 so I sent him in after school.
They'd posted it to our old address so have had to cancel the card and PIN and all that and re-order new ones.
Yes, the account was opened using our current address, the same address as our other accounts, and they saw the ID that they requested to verify this address.
And then the 'system' somehow decided to send everything to the address that was changed almost 4 years ago
