a question about cheques

Postby meriad » 08 Sep 2014, 19:20

I received a cheque today from the pet insurance company - made out to my name. I'd like to pay it into my credit card account which is a BarclayCard - can I do that or does the cheque have to be made out to BarclayCard? Anyone know :?

I think you'll need to bank it Meri as it is made out to you. If you have enough finds in your account you could pay the B/Card bill and the cheque will clear in about 5-7 days.

Ria, from what I remember a cheque is 'money' and if it is in your name it is yours to do with as you please. However, it has to 'clear' and that can take ?days. Once it has cleared you should be able to pay/transfer it to your Barclaycard account or take it as cash and then pay in to Barclaycard.

Thanks all - I'll take it to my usual bank tomorrow and deposit it there.
