Try explaining this.....

Postby Workingman » 05 Apr 2014, 19:51

Co-op bacon is £2.69 per 250g pack, or two for £4. Next to it on the shelf is Danepack bacon at £1.75 per 240g pack....... so it's chaeper to buy the stuff NOT on offer, that's what I did, but that's not all. :o

I fancied something to go with the bit of Bacardi I have left, and Coke seemed the right thing (even though I hate it). ONE 2 litre bottle is £2.09, but TWO bottles is £2 for BOTH! :?: :?: :?:

No wonder the Co-op is in trouble. :)

It's mad, it happens all the time and that's what the various watchdogs should be stopping but seemingly can't :?

Bacardi with soda and a slice of lime is lovely ;)

Our local Co-Op almost give stuff away on a Saturday evening. In fact they do better than that. My friend bought some bargains and somehow they ended up owing her 5p

You do see stuff priced that way quite often, really rather strange isn't it?

The bacon thing is a bit of stunt, but it's two different manufacturers so it's, apparently, OK.

The Coke thing is weird. I think it's an admin error; you cant buy a 2 litre bottle of Coke anywhere for £1, you can't even buy a small bottle for that price in most places.

Shell, a trip to our local Co-op, just as it is closing, will get you the whole bargain basket for pennies if you are prepared to make an offer, it goes in the bin otherwise, but them giving 5p to take it away would be a first.

You certainly have to have your wits about you when shopping.

I am often spotting similar anomalies in Tescos.

Ditto in Asda. From memory, the last one I noticed was to do with Oatso. As they come in various size boxes with different numbers of packets in them, plus they were also doing a "2 for £4" type of offer as well, it took me about 5 minutes to work out what the best permutation was - and it wasn't the special offer ......

think most of the shops do this nowadays - have to really be careful when shopping. I see it constantly in Asda and Tesco, so annoying - you really have to check all the prices!

Lidl sells 2L bottles of pepsi for 99p here, and I buy smaller bottles of diet pepsi (500ml) for 39p in B&M bargains ;) I also go to superdrug for toilet rolls as they are over £1 cheaper than other shops for a pack of 9. Crazy!

Poll :)

Talking of prices - do any of you do shopping in a Pound Shop?

There are two in our shopping centre, and I am amazed at the bargains you can get there.

I don't know how they do it, but their turnover must be great.

We even have a 99p shop nearby.
