Thank you all for your comments.

I think it is all sorted out now. I had a call this morning from Customs & Excise and I have
paid the import duty of £14. It had apparently been 'shipped' by plane.
Hopefully it is now OK. Fingers crossed.

It appears that in total I have paid approx. £16 more than if I had used the thread here
- the one that I couldn't find.

Hopefully I will sleep better tonight.

Mrs A is adamant that in future we will use local shops for such items, to avoid all this hassle.
As she says, if we have any problems we can then go back to the shop for help and advice.
