Back in cyberworld :-)

:P :P :P

It was odd not being online much at all for the past few days - was on FB a bit via the phone, but nothing 'proper' as such ;) . Not that I didn't have access to the internet during the four days I was at mom's but it's just quite awkward when it's just two of you; it's just a tad rude then being on the internet. And - as daft as it sounds - VV is part of my life that I don't really want to share with my family and I know mom would ask lots of questions about what, who, where etc.... I often refer to VV as 'my favourite forum' but that's all they know and I'm happy to keep it that way.

But alas, I'm back. The four days with mom were OK - I'm glad I went, but equally I am glad to be back home. Mom is really struggling with her hip (replacement op scheduled for January) and that, combined with the stormy weather on Thursday and Friday we were quite housebound for most of the time; and let me tell you German TV is as bad as, if not worse than, UK TV  I got some shopping done on the Friday morning which was nice and Saturday we had a meander over the local Christmas market which sadly was a total waste of time; it's very (and I mean VERY) small Christmas Market with mainly stalls manned by local clubs such as churches, scouts etc selling food items. There were a few other stalls with Christmas things, but nothing really noteworthy. And then it started raining which meant mom wanted to get back to the car and home as she's quite insecure when it's wet as she's (understandably given her hip) terrified of slipping and hurting herself.

And then Sunday it was homebound again.

I had yesterday off as well and had a lovely day with Nadine and another friend and got some Christmassy decorating done at home... quality me time which was nice and actually just a bit needed. But now back again - so will have a gander at the various posts and see what everyone has been up to.

Lovely to have you back :D :D

Hip replacements certainly do seem to mean a whole new lease of life and they don't seem to be that hard to recover from either. I think that is because it is a big one way joint, not fiddly like knees and shoulders

Guten abend und vie gehts Ria?

I guess that German TV has not improved since I lived there. My cousin got a job with ZDF as a translator for British and US TV shows because all the German networks seemed to produce were endless boring and very deep discussion programmes on politics and society - an imsomniacs dream.

I still love the country and its people, though. They are warm and friendly, and despite all the hype, have a sense of humour equal to anyone's. However, once they step over that border they become the Devil incarnate, but we all know that.

Great to see you back Ria!

My Mom had a hip replacement 13 years ago (actually 13 years ago this week) and it really gave her a new lease of life. Hope your Mom's op goes well xx
