Changes at the checkout ...

Postby TheOstrich » 05 Dec 2013, 12:13

After years and years of promoting up to £50 cash back when paying at the checkout by card, Asda have apparently done a complete reversal. YOU have to ask THEM for cashback before you put your card in the machine, no longer will they prompt you. No signs or anything up about this change and it caught me out this morning ..... Apparently it's because Asda have to pay merchant fees for every such cashback transaction, and they have decided it's no longer viable!  :(

On an unrelated topic, Master O has just telephoned from work to say that the company he works for have been approached by ITV to star in a documentary they are making! The staff are apparently now taking bets whether or not it's going to be "Rogue Traders" .....

I thought the original idea with cash back was that it reduced the banking costs of the big outlets in that they were not having to put so much cash through the system; and also that it helped the banks to keep cash flowing, a win-win.

Tel Master O it won't be Rogue Traders... that's on the BBC.
