As it costs so much, over 2 euros a card and almost a euro to post, we've decided to send post-cards of our village to the grandchildren this year.

And really cut back on the sending of cards too.

That makes sense Ton, I saw some lovely hand-made embellished charity cards the other day, really cheap too, but then realised they would cost a fortune to send as the bits on them would mean using a 'large' stamp........

This. We snapped up some cards in the local hospice shop at least a month ago when they first hit the shelves as they were reasonably priced and nearly always sell out fast. But we won't post the UK ones until at least the first week in December.

Our card list diminishes every year, we'll be down to 40 or so this year, I guess.

So many people don't realise this though. Last Christmas again we were notified that there were two at the Postal dept. which were under-stamped. It was going to be £1 plus the extra postage for us to pay for each one, so we didn't bother collecting them. It's a shame, but it's bad enough paying for the ones you send out without having to pay to receive them.

I only send off about 4 cards by post, the ones to the neighbours are hand delivered and everyone else get's one emailed to them and I put a general one on FaceBook. I make the e-card myself so it's not totally impersonal

I bought mine in the sales, I've really cut down on how many I post though - even before the price rise last year I was spending between £15 and £20 in the post office because of sending to family and friends in the US as well as the UK
