Sick TV.. Sicker Audience.

Postby KateLMead » 22 Aug 2013, 15:13

I have been unable to sleep, last night I went through the night and probably slept for two hours.. I think it was around 11.p.m. when switching channels I logged onto a supposed entertaining comedian.
The mammoth audience enthralled with his performance, cheering, convulsively laughing, the more foul he became, the more hysterical laughter.
I listened and watched him in disbelief.. Filthy language, filthy script the more filthy the more the audience cheered. Talent? none existent.
I think those who know me would confirm that I am broad minded, however this 20 odd year old turned my stomach, as did the onlookers whose brains in my opinion were rotting in the filth that appears so palatable these days.

To me, filth and bad language are lazy comedy, and I can't understand why anyone thinks it is funny  I can laugh at a dirty joke as much as the next person, but it needs to be funny. Sometimes we are channel flicking before going to to bed and come across some of these so called comedians - we just sit there stonyfaced because none of it makes us laugh.

I do not mind a little bit of bad language, if it is in context with the 'joke', but to make every other word an expletive as with today's 'observational comedy' is as Osc says, just lazy. Sarah Milican I used to like, but now her 'act' is just a string of 'F' words. Why?

And what is all this with orifices, bodily functions and fluids?

I agree 100% . There is no need for it at all; it doesn't make an unfunny joke a funny one, it really doesn't

It just confirms the standards into todays society, vulgar, sexually obsessed,
I just wonder what the producers are thinking of welcoming and encouraging these brain dead supposed so called comedians and giving them space on TV.
I love a good joke and have quite a repertoire but they never sink to the levels exhibited by these morons.

I don't understand why this sort of "entertainment" is allowed.

What has gone wrong with society? There is so much depravity today. How much worse can it get?

I get so angry at the way things are going.
