A Great Day Out.

My lovely granddaughter "Tami" took me and an elderly neighbour out today
to the WW2 re-enactment show at Quorn in Leicestershire. A lovely ride on the old steam train there and back with a singsong from all the passengers into the bargain.
"Tami" has been a brick with the way she has looked after us.
Unfortunately hubby could not come because with him having the daily injections for the blood clot plus having to wear specially made boots that weigh a ruddy ton he said he would rather stay at home because it would be too much for him. I made sure that he was wearing his special body alarm though before going just in case he had a fall.

We have seen a show with a good singer who was singing all the songs of those far off years plus watching a mock battle and the old fire engines with the volunteer fire service fighting a fire.

We had tanks, old cars AND A REAL Spitfire which was available to have your photo taken in for a fiver. I might have had it done if I could have climbed into the cockpit.

There has been fashion shows of the forties plus many tents selling stuff of that era.

We have even had a fly over of Spitfires.

The weather brought loads of people out and it really has been a wonderful day with a great atmosphere all round.
OK so they dont get everything right and YES I could find some faults with how some folk depicted the war years BUT the camaraderie was abundant and made for a super day.
I even had a spiv trying to flog me some bloomers on the train and the place was in uproar with me holding them against me clutching the gusset
and jigging about with them. One chap took a photo of me trying them against me and "Tami" gave him my e-mail addie so I am hoping that he sends the photo on.
It REALLY has been a super day.

Maywalk that does sound such a lovely day out :)
What a thoughtful granddaughter you have! A shame hubby couldn't go but at least you could enjoy it knowing he was safe, and hopefully he has enjoyed hearing all about it :)
I'm sure it's done you the world of good :)
