I got a letter this morning from the council
Nearly 7years ago after that been in hospital for sepsis
I took up the offer of a life pendant and paid yearly
This year they have me a new little box thingy to speak through beside a new bangle all new technology blah blah in only ever used it once fella came just rung an ambulance
And when they came he left turns out it was a side effects of a pain killer
Anyway today the letter said the increase for next year was £1-40 a week because of better technology that brings it to nearly £4;000 a year and they have over 5000
Costomer less one me a scandal rant over

Saundra, a lot of it is down to Openreach going digital. C down the road had to have her alarm and phone changed to make things work... at her cost. At least she is still 'on the system' and that keeps her mind at rest.

Saundra,

Everything is going up. A small butcher I get meat from in Chorley market is closing. It is a couple who say their costs are increasing and it is not worth the extra admin

to make a decent profit. They have both got other jobs.
I got rid of my landline. I did not useit very much. Ihave good neighbours who have keys and would come in if they did not see me for a couple of days.
Better than any technology whic can fail. Look what happened with the banks recently. Several smallbusinesses will only accept cash.

Doctor wanted me to have an app but I refused the option. Just phone when I want to contact them.

It is a constant battle. Mrs S has hearing aids and the cost to replace just keeps going up. The current one's are £5k each. Yes I'm a tech geek and I know how much better they are. But technology costs should be falling.

Home emergency alarms should be able to work on your wifi and your mobile as well as a landline. But they resist.

Here in France it is a constant battle. They have started blocking online orders with home delivery if you don't have a French mobile. They won't accept a landline. I bought a virtual mobile number. One time setup cost and pay as you go.

My daughter looked at internet when she moved recently. £39, not bad from BT, the best on offer. But when she added a landline it changed to £70. Upshot of that? They don't need landlines, whatsapp on wifi and mobile calls, job done.

The more complicated things become and the more choices we get the more chance someone will want to screw money out of us.
