Morning all

Wet and very windy

We had a nice afternoon with our neighbours, so nice they didn't leave till 6pm Just as they were leaving the phone went, it was my cousin David in America, he was on the phone for about an hour!! After all that we had dinner quite a bit later than intended. We're not keen on Jools Holland so we decided to watch a film which ended just 10mins short of midnight, perfect. Ed cracked open a bottle of bubbly and we did the Big Ben countdown and watched the London fireworks which were brilliant this year. Think we finally rolled into bed around 1.30am

Afternoon everyone, and Happy New Year

We saw the New Year in, with our visitors H and A, my niece and her husband. We lingered over a meal topped off by a cheeseboard, seeing as A is French - my goodness that man loves his cheese and wine The fireworks were very.muted here, as the wind was absolutely howling all night! We took everyone out for breakfast, and a walk, then they set off back to Manchester. We need a quiet afternoon, so that's the plan!
