For me it was hearing it being played a lot on the little radio I wasn’t supposed to have in my office at work

They are "OMC", from Auckland, the track is "How Bizarre", and it's well over 20 years old.

OMG how did I miss this post about OMC?
Yes I absolutely 100% know of them. OMC stands for Otara Millionaires Club. The funny part is back then, (and to a large degree still now) Otara was a very socially economic depressed suburb with the majority of the people living there on the benefit.

It was written for an American audience, as we don’t have freeways, gas, snakes and marines , instead we have motorways, petrol, the navy, and still no snakes.

3 years ago I did a scout gang show where this was one of the songs, so I’ve even danced on stage to it
