Well, he was there in the chapel of rest, for an hour. In a closed coffin, thankfully.

One of his daughters had sent over a few words, which was read out by a friend. Hypocritical thingy He'd not seen or heard from her for over 30 years, until his middle - and favourite - daughter died a few years ago.

We had a few beers at the bar, along with a few other people and yes, he will be missed.

He was very much a one off.

Bonkers Southern Irish.

We know a lot about him that others don't, and he was a very, very private person, but I can talk about him now.

His mum was American, his dad was a jockey, he was actually born in Cheltenham, but hated that being known, being Irish

He had a son, who lives in Australia, three daughters, one of whom he loved, the others he really didn't like. Too much like their mother, apparently.

He left home at 14, worked all over the world and very bizarrely, worked with Gary, an American, who moved into this area a couple of years ago. Somewhere in Sudan, neither of them could remember
