Has anyone tried them?

I get my fruit and veg bags from the local scheme and it costs me £3 per bag. They are pretty basic but perfectly okay although I have stopped getting the fruit ones now as the fruit never seems to have much taste to it.

I have been into school earlier and the head has given me a little ticket thing for a free Abel and Cole box of my choice - she was sent them through with her last order.

I have ordered a £25 fruit and veg box (although I am getting it free). I am not sure what will be in it as I have ordered it to be delivered on 23 May and they only give you an itemised list for this week and next weeks boxes. Next weeks box has broccoli, butternut squash, salad potatoes, carrots, cauliflower, bananas, kiwi, mixed babyleaf salad, strawberries, mushrooms and onions. I'm not sure if it is worth £25 but I will see.

Amanda (the head) was raving about it saying that it is really good quality and lasts for ages. She says that you can pick and chose how often you have it and cancel and restart whenever you want. They sell lots of other things as well - dairy, meat, fish, household items, etc.

I haven't had to commit to any more boxes to get my free box which I thought was quite impressive.

Has anyone else used them?

A friend used to have them and raved about them but to be honest it'd grieve me to pay that much

I've heard good things about their quality etc as well, but same as Jo - it's the cost that's quite off putting. I'd be curious to find out how you get on with it Debih?

The cost has always put me off.

I'm going to try the free one and see how long it lasts. And I'm going to make a list of exactly what I get and price it up at the market and sainsburys to compare.

I'll let you know what it's like when it comes in a fortnight.

Mick and I have decided to eat more fruit and veg, we ate tons in Corfu and it made us feel healthy so I'd be interested to heat how you get on with this Debih, especially the price comparison with Sainsbury's

They do have cheaper boxes but I went for the most expensive as it was free!

I've been tempted a few times, Riverford always have a stall at the Christchurch food festival with some offers. But really I prefer to choose what I want at the time I buy it.

You can pick and choose what goes into your boxes, but I go shopping and plan as I go, buying veg to go with whatever meat is on offer/reduced, or see that aubergines or whatever look nice so plan around that. Things like potatoes are an oddity with us, because some weeks we use hardly any.
It's the same problem as advance meal-planning I think, in theory it's great but in practice I absolutely hate it!
Also, we do get through vast amounts of veg so I'd still end up needing more

To me they are a bit Emperors new clothes. I have two friends who use them, both who think the more you pay the better it looks.
