Anyone had a carpet fitted recently

When we moved down here, we had the place completely recarpeted, that was in 2017. We used a local independant retailer, very well regarded, but it shut down in October last year.

The invoice indicates it was 20.9m x 4m, that's 83.6 sq/m overall, and the total cost with underlay, brass edging, and a built-in coil matting at the front door, totalled £2,009 + vat.

The carpet was Abingdon Stainfree Ultra Latte, and whilst I haven't got the price per sq/m - unfortunately it's an all-inclusive bill - it wouldn't have exceeded £24 per sq/m.
Looking online today, you can get the same carpet for around £18 per sq/m, vat inclusive ...... but that of course wouldn't include fitting.
