My pal, Andy, and a couple of mates went in 2015, to the bay of Ocoa, Azua area. I declined.

They hated it. Nowhere to go, nothing to do 'cept sit on the beach and fry, and a very long dive from the airport to get there.

Cheap drinks and food, yes, but not my type of holiday.

Well don't go then, as I said my friend really liked it and I hope you do too Suff

I'm either working at my desk or working in the house. I'm doing stuff 7 days a week, 12 hours a day and 51 weeks a year, normally. OK now I'm travelling to the UK monthly I get two weekends free, but I have a LOT of family in the area and they all want to see me. So not so much of relaxing weekends.

For me pool, sun, relaxation and minimal to no recreation is Exactly what I want. If I want a holiday in which I run around doing stuff all the time and visiting and seeing things, I can do all that in France with wonderful architecture, great climate, fantastic food. OK the price is way higher, but it is all there. Plus if I go to Provence I can order large quantities of really good wine from the domains and have them deliver it to the door.

For this one I just want to relax and chill out.

I totally get that Suff. You lead a very busy life, complete relaxations is sometimes all you want.

We used to love holidays touring and learning about different countries, India, Cuba, etc but now we're older we just want a lovely beach, warm sea and lots of sunshine. It's why we prefer to go away during our colder months.

You must be glad you're getting decent weather at last Jan.

My friends have been shocked at the cold and wind up until a few days ago.

We're forecast for 41C on Wednesday and 43C on Thursday next week. I've snaffled the portable aircon unit out of the Attic, routed a hole in my room floor and it's sitting behind the door blowing cool(er) air at me.

The forecast is straight sun and heat right through to the 16th.

I'll need to hoover the pool and check the chlorine.

Joaquinha said earlier in the year that we'd have a hot summer as we had a rubbish spring. Took a while to kick in but we're in for 40C plus for the next 10 days and then back to more normal 35C, which I'm happy with. Not sure about the 21C at night though, we're normally about 15C
