Daylight robbery

Postby JanB » 01 Mar 2022, 15:21

We have had an international bank account in Guernsey since we moved to Portugal, so just over 16 years. Before that, we were with the same bank in England.

They've just sent me an e-mail saying that from 1 June, unless we have a minimum of 100,000 in our account, we will be charged 40£ a month

So that's us moving then

Bit of a bugger, as my nhs pension is paid into it. To have it sent over here, I'd be charged 17£

I'll be ringing them tomorrow, just to make sure it's not a scam and also to see if we can have a slightly different account.

No joy

You either have over 100,000 in your account or we charge you.

So I'm moving it. We really don't want to move everything into one place, much prefer it in three different places, so if one goes belly up, we'll have money left over 8-)

We can't open another account in England, so Portugal it is

I had a Bank of Scotland account in Jersey for when I was working in Jersey. I left part of my last pay in it and never touched it. It grew and grew until it had nearly reached £800. Then Lloyds took over, moved the account to the Isle of Man and it starting going down, month after month. Eventually I closed the account and got the <600 out that was left.

Bottom feeders the lot of them.
