Lack of GM foods ...

Postby TheOstrich » 19 Apr 2013, 08:02

GM meaning frozen Garlic Mushrooms, in this instance.

Asda has been out of these for at least 3 weeks now .
And washing soda crystals ....

What is the world coming to? :o

Is there anything which is usually on your shopping list which is hard to come by these days?

I tried to get soda crystals in Sainsbury's a while back - I like to use them now and again with boiling water to keep my kitchen plug holes running freely. They didn't have any even though the girl looked in the storeroom for me - she said she thought they'd been discontinued! However the next time I looked they had them again - maybe a bit of customer feedback helped? ;)

Frozen garlic mushrooms have never been on my list

The old globe-style lightbulbs are what I miss from the shops these days

Chicken food pellets.
I use to have problem with the particular formula that I bought for Oliver, and when it was stocked, I always bought in bulk as it would then be hard to find, but I always left 1 tin on the shelf, as the next person might be desperate.
Nz Marmite is now being restocked as the Christchurch factory is back in operation after the earthquake, so that's in the cupboard now.

The only things I can't get that I really wan is garnier sunscreen. But that's never been stocked here.

Kaz, I'll swap you lightbulbs for sunscreen.

Lidl are notorious for that, lots of lovely things they have once and you can never find again. :(

Kaz the 99p shop has soda crystals, I use half the dose of washing powder/liquid and add a bit to the wash :) And the plugholes too :)

I have some frozen garlic mushrooms Ossie :D They were bought from Lidl for 30p a bag when they flogged off leftover Christmas stuff. We had some at Christmas for our bits and pieces buffet and the boys loved them, so they'll get used eventually. Dreadful things, big parcels of breadcrumbs with a tiddly mushroom inside - in fairness of course the mushrooms are quite big till they're cooked :D

Frozen sliced peppers are something I usually have, they're often a lot cheaper than fresh and handy to have. But at the moment, neither Morrisons nor Waitrose have them, it must be a seasonal supply thing :?

Thanks Kaz. :P I might take you up on that, but I'll wait till October. We still have a uk account, so can easily transfer money. I won't have much need for it for the next 6 months though and I'm always conscious of the expiry dates of sunscreen, especially since we have such a fierce and harsh sun here where you can get badly burnt in 30 mins.

I m happy to send lightbulbs. :D but would need to make sure they would fit.
