I remember going to western super mere from Cardiff by paddle steamer and the pier there is mega long

Gal, I think I read somewhere they were first built for pleasure trips, so the boats could moor up and deliver people straight onto them.

Ahh makes sense - mind you when the tide's out, the whole of Saltburn pier is on dry sand! Our luck was in yesterday, tide was well in - made me feel like Rose on the Titanic
