Morning all :D

Bright and dry here today, but I'm betting it's still freezing cold. Mr.J's off out for the papers shortly so I'm sure to get a full report when he gets back

Hope you get to see all the teachers on your list this evening debih. Good luck at the doctor's lissie. I've been putting off getting my cataracts sorted too, but know it can't wait much longer.

Nothing planned for today, this weather makes me want to hibernate.

Hope you all have a good day :D

Hmmph. We haven't gone anywhere as the car's dead
Seems to be the starter motor, waiting for the RAC now...estimate 2-3 hours

Good luck at the doctors Lissie, and Jo hope you feel better soon - I've sometimes had to tell youngest to please watch something else, after 3 episodes in a row

Good morning all - it's extremely cold here although the wind doesn't seem to be quite as strong as yesterday. We are having some light showers of wet snow, so they won't create any trouble  I've renewed our annual travel insurance, not sure why as we have nothing special planned this year but you never know........the system has changed and instead of actually renewing, I have to repurchase online every year now apparently. That was fun, the "system" wouldn't let me check the terms and conditions box so I had to phone them anyway  The good thing is that it was €40 cheaper than last year :D

Today is son-in-law's birthday and later on I'm going to walk to their house and leave in his present, the joy of having them living within walking distance. Lissie, hope all goes well with the doc, the cataract op is a brilliant job, my mother had hers done in her 80s. Not sure what we will do this afternoon, I've started knitting a summer cardi and would like to get on with it, also my book is due back at the library this week so I "need" to finish it ;) Mr. Osc has spag bol sauce in the slow cooker, so that's dinner sorted. Have a good day everyone :)

JoM wrote:Debbie, I hope S's parents evening goes well tonight. We don't have the option now of jumping in if we see a teacher who is free, they've changed the system now and rather than all teachers being in the hall we all have to run around the school, totally lost, to find them in their departments. It's an utter mess and over runs badly whereas in the hall it always ran like clockwork. We've been to two like that now and both times have found ourselves in long queues to see the teachers and you don't know whether to get out of the queue and run to another department to see another teacher because their queue could be just as long. We didn't get to see his geography teacher last time because she'd gone by the time we go around to seeing her!

This system is a complete farce too. I told S not to bother too much - if she doesn't get the appointments and we don't get to see the teachers it really doesn't matter. She isn't a child that messes about in class and neither is she one that seeks attention so the chances are the teachers won't even remember who she is!

It shows how stupid the whole appointment system is as when my friends daughter was trying to make hers with the English teacher she insisted on working alphabetically and so wouldn't let Lauren book her appointment until all those before her had done so. She then ran out of appointments before she got to Lauren - who's surname begins with M!!!!!!

How ridiculous Deb!
At this school parents evening ends at 6.30, or is supposed to, so you get a lot of people wanting the late appointments because of work - John's one of them because he always likes to go and hear how they're doing - so I always tell the boys just to get the main subjects, but when it was held in the hall there would usually be a few teachers we didn't have appointments with who would call us over if they were free and we were waiting.

Forgot to say, what a nuisance about the car Di! I hope it's sorted now.
And thanks, hopefully I'm nearly over the worst of it - and it's been The Simpsons ever since, I've zoned out of it and read my book

Yes it's fixed and I haven't once said 'I told you so', even though it was before Christmas I first told him there was something wrong with the car and he should phone the garage...
But not finished till 1.45, so too late for us to go anywhere as he had to work. Then the thing he needed wouldn't download to his work computer so he's only been gone about half an hour...I've been ignoring h-word and reading my book :D

Lol yes, youngest has either Top Gear or Big bang theory but also the Simpsons - but we don't have Sky. The other week he watched 2 episodes (which he'd seen before) then a bit later put it on again and would have watched the exact same episode if I hadn't objected :D
