When we were little our Mum made us walk behind
the lorry that was tarring the roads.
She told us to breathe in deep and it would be good
for our chests :D

Memories of trying to mask the smell while making a dignified exit. Trying to find anywhere suitable to do a nappy change... I do mean 'anywhere'. Pretending that the smell, after the nappy change, is not coming from the old Asda bag I am carrying, no ,no, no.... :o

Welcome to my world.   Worst ever was talking to customer services in a department store, trying to source a high chair, they were ringing around, when that unmistakable odour assaulted my nostrils from miss 4 months old. I looked done in her pram and all I could see was brown, so took the blanket and tucked her in till the cus serv got off the phone, then dashed from the store into the nearest baby cloths shop to buy an enitire new outfit. when I smell that milk poo smell I'm reminded of that now.

The smell of rain on asphalt on a hot summers day always reminds me of primary school and being in the playground playing, but since it normally always rains in auckland, you didn't run inside, it would be over with in a minute or two, and if not, then you went in. But I love that smell as the first few drops hit.

The smell of the bush, which I've later learnt is actually the smell of the tee trees, always reminded me of our summer holidays at raglan.

Garden bonfires remind me of my Dad......every September he would make a bonfire with the rubbish from the garden, all the harvested veg leftovers and the like....smelling it now makes me smile as I associate that with my lovely Dad :)
