Only in Portugal - part 1

Postby tonicha » 11 Feb 2016, 08:12

Went to register at the Centro de Saude in Ourique yesterday, spoke to the receptionist, who took our details and then asked us to go back either that afternoon or the next day.

So off I went to the post office and was waiting in there when my phone rang - it was the receptionist, asking me to go back. So I went and got Grumpy from a bar  (he was having a coffee, didn't fancy that hill up to the post office ;) ) and off we toddled. We got the forms she'd done, told us which doctor we're now with and I asked to see the nurse.

So she e-mailed her   then told me to go to the waiting room - and then the nurse called me in.

She had no idea what they system was for getting Glad bags, but I gave her the sizes etc and she'll get back to me.

Then she asked if I had my inoculation card - no, I haven't got one, but Grumpy did.

So I had a tetanus injection and I now have a very sore arm

And two more to come

Oh, that reminds me - I need to check when I last had a tetanus injection... may well be due another one

But good service otherwise from your Centro de Saude - just hope they're as good with getting Gladys her regular supplies

I'm sure we'll be fine - the nurse told me to go ahead and get some if I need some, before she sorts things out and then take all the paperwork to the receptionist, who'll send it off and then I'll be re-imbursed :D

But I made sure I had loads before we moved, so I'll be okay for at least another month.

when we had our tetanus -compulsory- we had to buy it and then return to clinic for the injection, and the nurse apologised first -in case i hurt you with the needle
