It went away and came back repaired, so I put the new sim card in it and put some money on it yesterday.
I was then getting various messages for some-one and had a phone call from her mum. Then a few dropped calls, a couple of giggly school-girls and late last night a very concerned father wanted to know what I was doing with his daughters phone.
i explained that I'd just got a new phone and this was the number - which was a digit away from his daughter - and for some reason, when they rang her, they got me
So he was going to try and get that sorted, by contacting her supplier. They then rang me to confirm my number 
and after a couple of dropped calls, I hope that's it now
