I remember going to Switzerland by coach via Dover
Custom fella got on shouted is everybody English we all shouted yes
And that was it never any checks
In fact it was a total wast of time having a passport


Similar going from Austria into Italy on a coach tour back around 1969.
Austrian guide: "When we get to the Italian checkpoint, an official will come on board. When he does, everyone please wave your passports in the air"

He did, we did, he grunted and got off, and that was it! :D

I've crossed the Belgian/Holland border without the car even stopping, the traffic was allowed straight through - at speed!! This was in 1981, however :lol: Mick swears he's been allowed to travel in Europe using his work photo ID, at around the same time!
