I was far too young to get married. I was just 21 and I did it because we had been going out together for 6 years and it seemed the thing to do. I really regret it to be honest.

I sprang an extra bridesmaid on my mum the night before and bless her, my mum didn't bat an eyelid. We got married in the local registry office, Mr Shell's opening words to me being "do you like my shoes" They were very expensive ones my dad got him, probably knock off  We had an argument with my dad when it came to filling in the register as my dad wanted me to say he was a photographer, which was his hobby and me being young and thinking it mattered refused. When we got to the hotel we had a sit down meal, my dad sat in the garden under an umbrella with a bottle of Red. Then we had a separate do at night, but a 3 hour gap in the middle, when me and my extra bridesmaid Dawn, went back to my mums and drank tea. I have no idea where Tim went, I suppose to his mums   We met up again at the evening reception. Then my mum decided to invite everyone back to hers, except us, because you have to go home 'nudge nudge, wink wink" God I was livid. Oh my dad tried to strangle my step mum at some point and they were last seen staggering down the road nearly being run over.

We went back to our new house, that we had never lived in. Had to make the bed with horrible brand new sheets, I was in tears. I threw my ring across the room and said "what a mistake, can I go home" :| :|

I would love to marry him again now, I wanted to do that for our Silver but he isn't interested. I could really enjoy it this time and best of all I really love him now. That sort of grew with the years (it was 1984), so I am quite pleased I didn't go home after all

(((((((((((Shell))))))))))
I know you are happy now, but that was one unusual wedding day. I think it would be lovely if Mr Shell married you again and made it really special x

On the day before we got married I got home with mrs.e there. The ironing board was still up with a pile of ironing still to be done. She returned later. She had forgotten to pick up her wedding dress which was being altered.
She was staying with her parents the night before the wedding. I had got up and was going to have my breakfast when her father arrived. We had bought crossants and she couldn't find hers. So I sent my two back with her father. The only food in the house was a tin of oxtail soup and a small jug of milk so that I could have a cup of tea. And it would be nearly one o'clock before we had the wedding breakfast.
Then on the way to Scotland for our honeymoon, mrs.e was driving my car on the M6. I had nodded off to sleep and woke up to see the needle was nearly at maximum on the speedometer and you could hardly see across the motorway because of the heavy rain. She gently slowed down.
One day we went into a pub a few miles north of Fort William. As we went to sit down I heard my name called out. It was someone I knew from home who I used to have a drink with.
THere is a lot more but I haven't got the time

Only been married once but as we are long divorced now it doesn't really seem important, but I didn't want to not post on this thread so.....

It was a horrible damp grey November day...church wedding, me in a gypsy/shepherdess style wedding dress (off the shoulder - *shiver*) him all warm and cosy in a suit  Done on the cheap as we had sunk our money into our lovely little first house, which had needed a lot of work done. Borrowed my cousin's car and tarted it up with white ribbons on the bonnet and door handles, I had four bridesmaids, the older ones in peach and the little ones in white with peach trim. No honeymoon, no fancy hotel for the reception, just the local village hall....really lovely day though :) 8-) Only downside was some daft eejit had given my new brother-in-law our house keys, and he went in and put some rather 'interesting' designs on our windows and a real ox tail under the bottom sheet of our bed! Oh and he also unscrewed one of the bed legs.....

Evening 'do' was a few drinks at a local hotel, after which the best man and bridesmaid (a couple) drove us home after calling in at the chippie for some chips   Happy day :D
