L has been safely delivered to camp

Postby debih » 24 Jul 2015, 18:49

It looks fab. Their group have quite a big area for their camp and most of the stuff was already in place - the leaders have been there all day putting everything up.

They have their kitchen tent, their dining tent, their wash tent and a toilet tent. Then they have a tent for the leaders and a tent for the younger leaders.

The girls tents were not up - the girls had to help do them when they had all arrived. They are in two big tents (16 girls in total) and each tent I believe has four big compartments in so the girls share one compartment each to sleep in and keep all their stuff in.

There are no activities tomorrow as the majority of people wont arrive until tomorrow. So they get to decorate their camp - they all have an archway leading into their area and there is a competition for the best one. And they get chance to have a walk around and see where everything is. L wants to find her friend who is right over the other side of the camp - so at least 1.5k away.

Tomorrow evening there is a big opening ceremony and then the fun begins.

Won't see her now until Tuesday (unless I get a phone call asking me to take her crutches or boot over!!!)

Oh - and it started to rain just as we were leaving!!!!

I hope she has a lovely time and the rain holds off. Can`t help thinking of Tom Lehrers Boy Scouts marching song "Be prepared". :)

I've been following on FB (Peak 2015).

There are over 7000 scouts and guides from all over the world. They had their opening ceremony last night.

It was dry this morning (as we are only 20 minutes away they'll be getting the same weather as us which is now very wet) and they had a VIP visitor arrive by helicopter - Bear Grylls.
