Geocaching

Postby miasmum » 05 Jul 2015, 20:23

Our friend we were with last night are really into this. Tim thinks it sounds really nerdy and why would you want to be fiddling about in bus shelters and phone boxes, but I was strangely drawn to it. I reminded me of the treasure hunts my dad used to set.

Anyone else heard of it?

We used to do this once upon a time when the girls wanted to come out with us. It kept them entertained!

Doesn't interest me without them though. I'm with Tim - without kids it's a bit nerdy!!!!!!

I think I posted about Treasure Hunters a while back, but this looks a bit too 'organised' for me.

If I go for a walk I want to look about at the scenery not at a GPS receiver to tell me if I am close to some treasure.

Used to find pictures the odd purse loads of gloves always dropped the purses

I have a friend on Facebook who mentions it a bit, but I haven't been interested enough to look into what it entails

We've done a few, the kids really enjoy the hunt when we are closer, but I cheat and do the easy ones with obvious clues, so we can find it quick, otherwise a) I spend too long looking at my phone and B) they loose interest,.

I got the app with a view to starting this, since we walk a fair bit already, thought it might make the walks a bit more interesting....but we've not done any. It sounds a bit 'niche' to me - was speaking to a lady at work who does it a lot with her husband and a collection of other 'nerds'....I don't think its our thing at all, going by what she said....

Each to their own ;)
