I know that when you are getting older, it is sometimes difficult to come to terms with
the effects of inflation, particularly if it's in respect of something that you haven't bought
for many years. To give an extreme example, when I was a lad the generally accepted
amount to put in the collection at church was a threepenny bit. I haven't been to church
for years, but I expect the probable expected amount now is £5 (?).
I suggest that you do not consider this to be an insult, unless you really think that it was
intended to be, which I very much doubt. Perhaps it would be better to just forget it.
