Morrison's

Postby Workingman » 13 May 2015, 22:44

I don't quite know if this should be here.

Many years ago I lived in Horsforth and Morrison's was the only supermarket nearby.

When we moved it was to an Asda area and we sort of got used to the Asda way. I still live in the Asda area and have simply gone with the flow.

However, with my hand injury I have started using some ready meals, cooked meat, pies and pasties, and have not been impressed.

This evening I did a change and went back to Morrison's. What a surprise! Well laid out. A proper butcher working away on the meat counter. A deli where I could get one or two slices of cooked meats. Prices as good as anywhere, and no long queues.

I do not know where you lot go, but I know where I will be shopping in future. ;)

It's nice if you have a choice of several :)

We don't; the only big supermarket in this town is Waitrose and no-one in their right mind would do their weekly shop in there; that said, if you buy their bargains carefully you can do well ;)
In town is a small Tesco (express I think), which is incredibly efficient considering the population plus the visitors. And other than those two, M&S food :?

The big Tesco is nearly 6 miles, Lidl i/2 a mile further, Morrisons the same.
So while one or more of those might be better overall, or have good offers, you have to justify quite a lot of petrol.
Overall, tbh, I think I spend less just by shopping less ;)

I love my Morrison's it's the best the deli and fresh stuff is great
Only problem is the £12'00taxi but I have no choice
I. Use Tesco for a home delivery
And coop for a change plus I can pay my bills there
We don't have a asda near its 20 mile away

I love Morrison's :D We started going last summer when a new huge one opened up not far from here. Before that I was using Sainsbury's, as the Asda here is not the best, so am saving a lot of money every week with switching over, plus as you say the fresh food is excellent!! We go on Sunday mornings and they have often just marked down the meat section - I've had big trays of chops for not much more than a pound, ditto trays of chicken portions, mince etc 8-) 8-) :D

Get a Match and More card Frank, their points system is very rewarding as both Shell and myself can vouch ;) 8-)

I also use Morrisons but I am lucky as there is a Sainsburys the same distance in the other direction.
I go to the Canterbury Morrisons to get petrol as it adds points on my Match and More card and the local branch has,nt got a petrol station
As you enjoy cooking, Frank, have a look at their knife etc offer. They are really good. I have managed to get 2 knives and saving to get the chopping board. It ends this month.

Certainly can Kaz, have had £80 now since October.

I use Morrisons for both my in-store and online shopping.

Mainly Asda here as it's closest to me but I have started doing one week at Asda and the next at Aldi as their prices are fabulous....quality is also good :) We don't have a Morrisons close enough to warrant the extra in petrol and I find M&S too dear. Tescos is ok but I tend not to buy from there on principle. I only get a home delivery at Christmas (to save the riots!!) as I'm a saddo who likes to see what I'm buying ;)

Kaz, I did get the Match and More card but unfortunately Lissie I do not think that I will shop enough to make it for the knife offer.
