Had a lovely, lovely time, apart from dinner last night, which is going to go on tripadvisor
The old car did us proud, no worries at all, apart from not being able to lock it
and the hotel let us in at 10.30 in the morning, to drop off the suitcase - and up-graded us
- market was a bit quiet, but I still managed to buy some underwear, a leather handbag, and the most tastiest cheese ever
And as we bought the last 2, he chucked in the half that was left
Went to see friends in the afternoon, lovely chinwag and catch-up. Few beers and dinner.
Went to see the house on Wednesday morning - a gorgeous village, so well kept, found the 2 bars and shop - no trace of restaurant. But the people were all very friendly.
Not the house though - I know I'm not a smoker, but dear me
the walls were yellow
and it stank of cat and dog. Could be a lovely house, if a month was spent defumigating it and then redecorating
and the barn was almost a ruin - no way would I put a car in there, the bluddy roof could fall in at any time
And we spotted some things that weren't quite right in the land and walls and the owners sister confirmed that yes, it did flood "sometimes, but not often"
A lot of work, a small pool, and I would only offer them about 160,00. certainly not the 215,00 they were after.
Back to Ourique, watched the footie, chatted the Sonja, who runs the local sports bar - perfect English

Went to see the other house we like and sorted a few things out there too
Went to O Lobo restaurant, which has mostly fantastic reviews on tripadvisor. The food was good, expensive, but good, but the staff were appalling
So won't be going back there again
Lovely drive back this morning, waiting for the car to go back and Bente has asked that we drop the keys off in Santa Caterina post offce - well, sorry, no way am I walking that far. I'll either bin 'em or she can come and collect them.
But it is lovely to be home
