It is bin day and the team turned up as usual but could not do the job because a) the road was full of snow and the lorry could not get round safely - it was sliding about a bit and there are parked cars about and b) the lads could not drag the bins off the pavement because of the depth of the snow.
So there was a bit of a meeting, with the supervisor on his mobile to whomever, and after a while the bin lorry and team drove off.
Next thing two snowploughs turn up and clear the road. Fantastic!
Now the bin men are back. It is safe for the lorry to get about, but..... there is a wall of snow from the snowploughs, about 2 feet high and 2 feet thick, behind which are all our bins! Much laughter from the bin team.
I guess that the bins will not be emptied today.
