I wouldn't say I'm a fan of his particularly but loved Sherlock, and him in it :)

I'm currently reading the complete works of Arthur Conan Doyle on my Kindle,
and enjoying every episode. I have a feeling I might not enjoy a TV version.

Aggers did you not see the wonderful version that Granada made of Sherlock Holmes, back in the 90s? It starred Jeremy Brett and was really very good 8-) 8-) It gets repeated often on ITV3 :)

I hated the Cumberbatch version of Sherlock Holmes. What I call a modern day bastardisation of a classic, but that was more down to the scriptwriters, Moffat and Gattis than the actors. We saw the first series, then agreed we wouldn't bother with the rest.

I agree with Kaz; I guess for us, the Jeremy Brett interpretation is the definitive Sherlock Holmes. Looking at wiki, I see that Jeremy Brett actually suffered from manic depression / bipolar disorder ......

Yes, he had a very difficult mental health issues. Probably that helped him play Holmes so well..............
