Anyone else watching and if so what do you think?

I find it quite hard to follow, mainly because I think I find it the most depressing thing I have watched for a long time.

Not sure whether to give up or keep going. Love Maxine Peake and John Sim though, so for them I may keep going

I felt like that after the first episode, but hubby wanted to keep going and I thought we should just see what the second episode was like. The thing is now it has grown on us and we are quite enjoying it.

I'm really enjoying it. It's a bit bleak but I still think it is good.

It was filmed in the Peak District you know.

I usually enjoy things like this, but the first part of the first episode put me off. I just cannot watch little boys getting a good whacking at school without being sent back to being 5 years old and having to watch my 7 year old brother getting the leather strap across his hand. Just too upsetting for me, so I gave up.

Kaz, it hasn't

I nearly got the cane across my hand for swinging on the toilet doors. He had me standing there holding my hand out whilst he whistled the cane through the air and then told me to go. I think I was shaking so much he realised he wouldn't have got me anyway. Happy days :? :?

We watched the first episode and like everyone, found it a bit depressing. The next two episodes we had on Sky+ and only caught up with them this week. I have to say it has really gripped us now, and we will keep on with it. Finding parts of it hard to follow though - at first I thought that Martha Lane was going to turn out to be John Middleton's daughter by his sister-in-law, when he was telling her the story last week! I think bits of it are not edited very well, or maybe my brain isn't the best  And did I actually miss something? I don't recall seeing Joe actually do the naughty thing with Caro, just saw her kissing him and bingo, she's pregnant!!

Like you Osc, we are gripped by it now. I did wonder about that pregnancy bit whether it was deliberately vague and leaving us wondering who really was the father.
