Shouty TV is back!

Postby Workingman » 03 Aug 2018, 12:17

Well, Eat Well For Less, is.

I have not commented because this series has been quite calm... then came last night.

A family of six spending nearly £280 per week on food - that's £46.5 per head - and is before any meals out are taken into consideration. Just about everything they ate was a ready meal, takeaway, or snacks. :o

With just a few changes the team were able to save them £115 per week! 8-)

£280 per week??? Did the food come in gold plated packaging? I spent a total of a few pence over £70 last night in Aldi and Tesco, and that included bottles of beer and cider and a bunch of roses, and that's going to feed four of us (sometimes five if Shannon's staying or if Joe has a friend here). It also included some dental chews and biscuits for Billy.

I really need to watch this.

Jo, it is a bit of a con when they are shopping "and do not know they are being watched" as the trolley has a camera stuck on it...... and we all pick a trollet with a camera: don't we!

But the crew do get their receipts (somehow) and some of the things these families do will have you screaming at the TV.... and rolling about laughing.

You'll be like me and Di in no time.

What I found incredulous was the fact 4 grown up children lived in that house and not one of them knew how to cook! :o Ridiculous!

There is going to be a generation coming up that won't be able to even make themselves a cup of coffee!

Last week's mum didn't know how to cook - neither did her mum - but with a few simple lessons from Greg mum and the boys were soon cooking some really nice meals - including that biryani. :D

All 3 of mine were taught to cook - not gourmet meals  - but simple dishes with eggs, pasta, rice, etc. Enough that I knew they'd never starve when they left home. And now they are all competent cooks as they're not scared to try new things as they're comfortable and confident in the kitchen.

Precisely!

And what did he do, he got them to make a few simple sauces / bases for more elaborate meals.

Both of mine helped to prepare and cook meals and the now love cooking. They are confident, adventurous and way out there when it comes to flavour combinations - fusion meals. 8-) 8-) 8-)

Both of Bb's boys always helped in the kitchen, and from the start made things themselves.
Biscuits of course, but also pizza almost immediately.
Later they and Bb would do Saturday dinner - Bolognese, burgers, all sorts.
The first photo eldest posted after starting uni was him and five housemates eating h/m fajitas :)

When Michael went off to uni me and the ex were going to get him going away presents. What did he want from me? A proper wok, utensils and a good selection of spices! 8-) 8-)
