Call the Midwife

Postby Ally » 24 Feb 2013, 21:04

Oh my..what have I missed?! :o

I haven't seen a single episode of this..but turned over tonight and caught the last 20 minutes.
It looks fab!

That lovely nun..what is wrong with her? She just looks so perfect for that part.

From the tiny bit I watched the acting looks great.

Anyone know if this is on DVD..I just HAVE to get it. :D

This is the second series and every episode has been great. You could try iPlayer for this series.

The books they are based on are fantastic - I read them a couple of years ago and was so pleased when they televised it.

The first series is on DVD and as Debih said this series should still be available on iplayer. Watch it in order, if you can :D

It really is a wonderful gem of a programme...........just so touching and based on true life. The books are also amazing Ally - Jennifer Worth is the author, it is her experiences as a young nurse xxx

And the books.

(We can't get iplayer. Conor downloaded a site for me which worked insofar as the words came 5 minutes after the actions!  )

We've only started watching it this season, and love it. The nun has TB, but also has feelings for the doctor. I've never read the books, I wonder if they have them in the library. We actually started watching it because of people saying on here it was good - and it is!!

Yes sorry Ally, forgot to answer your question about the nun  :)

Osc I should magine they would be in the library..........worth finding out anyway :D Like Debih I read the books before the first series as my MIL had them - she loves books about nursing in the old days as she started her nursing career in 1952 at the age of 15 and finally retired in the '90s, and was both a midwife and a District Nurse in her time! She raved about them to me, so I borrowed them from her and read them 8-)

I'm positive I seen the books selling for £1 each in The Works last year and I really fancied them but my luggage was at its max. ;)

One thing I do know...I am so upping the ante on my luggage allowance in June! Pooh sticks to you Don!
