I quite enjoyed the Thirteenth Tale, having really liked the book. Of course, the demands of a 90 minute film mean that the complexity and darkness of so much of the story had to be compressed, but if you had not read the book, I think you would still have enjoyed the film. Vanessa Redgrave was excellent.

I think if you hadn't read the book you'd have enjoyed it more, as is nearly always the case

I tried it when it was first on but could not get into it. I think that I was suffering from Olivia Colman overload at the time as she appeared to be in just about everything.

I enjoyed it too. I caught up on iplayer and had my book to hand too, just to check a few details :lol:

They missed the spooky bit at the end out though and I was waiting for that

Well, they did miss a few chunks out I know...Margaret's 'twin story' was different for a start. I think it would have been better as a 2 or 3 part drama, but they did a pretty good job in the time they had.
