What is left if you take one from eight?

Adding one to one gives?

Three plus two equals?

Hi Cruiser. They're a bit easy these aren't they? Is there some obscure thing about them that we have to find out?

Thought of this when I was altering our clocks.

One of them is digital, so the numbers are made up of short strokes.
So One is two vertical strokes. If you then add one at the top you get seven
Eight is made up of made up of seven strokes. Taking one away makes it into Nine.
Adding three strokes to Two will make Nine.

I said it was simple.

Aggers,
Have you got a digital clock?
I have three and the numbers are made from strokes or bars, different ones being used to make different numbers.
As I have said, One is two vertical bars one above the other on the left.
Eight is seven strokes or bars which form two squares to form Eight.
Hope this helps.

I see what you mean, Cruiser.

That's an ingenious concept.
