What Are We Reading In August

Postby Ally » 31 Jul 2014, 23:29

Given I'm doing summer school at the Academy my reading will mostly be Cambridge exam papers.

Any spare time I'll have my face stuck in The Gilded Gutter Life Of Francis Bacon. :P

I'm almost finished The Beautiful Mystery by Louise Penny.

Last night I started listening to Cuckoos Calling by Robert Galbraith (aka J K Rowling).

And I'm listening to a brilliant book on Radio 4s Book at Bedtime - The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton. It's abridged so I've decided to choose it as my book group book so I can read the whole thing.

I've read some of those Ally :D

I'm reading Nina Todd Has Gone on the kindle, sorry can't remember the author.
It's about a girl who (I think) murdered another girl when they were teenagers.
She's now been released from prison, with a new identity, but the brother of the murdered girl is after her.

Is that book by Lesley Glaister Di?

I think I have that right at the bottom of my (large!) pile of books to read.

Let me know what you think of it please. :D

I'm just getting to the end of To Kill A Mockingbird. I've not had much time to read lately.

I finished Beautiful Mystery - I didn't enjoy it. Far too long for the sake of being long.

I'm just about to start Dear Thing by Julie Cohen - it's a Richard and Judy book

Finished To Kill A Mockingbird. Always makes my eyes a bit watery at the end when Scout realises that the man in the room is Boo Radley...."Hey Boo!" Love it.

I've now started Lost & Found by Tom Winter.

I finished Nina Todd Has Gone. Leave it where it is in the pile Ally ;)

Have started The Unlikely pilgrimage of Harold Fry and enjoying it, but it's a real book so can only read it in fairly short bursts as it's hard to hold for long.
