Nora Lofts

I have just rediscovered Norah Lofts and I'm reading The Town House. It's very good. I wish more of the authors I used to read were back in print. I used to love all that Gothic writing from the 1960's and 70's. I loved Madelaine Brent and Victoria Holt among others :D

Ooh yes - Victoria Holt! Wasn't she Jean Plaidy under another name? I loved Jean Plaidy books :D :D

Nora Lofts rings bells, I'm sure I must have read some of hers 8-)

I'd forgotten all about Norah Lofts. I loved her books years ago and didn't realise she was out of print now. Most of my historical knowledge came from Jean Plaidy's books so I have a rather romanticised idea about a lot of characters from the past. Reading Hilary Mantel's Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies gave me a completely different view of Anne Boleyn although of course Mantel's opinion of her was completely her own invention.

Oh yes the Jean Plaidy books were a highly romanticised view of history, but I loved them as a youngster :D

I do wish more of those authors from my childhood were back in print. Maybe they are deemed not racy enough
