Look for something in printer properties saying Portrait or Landscape. Landscape = Horizontal, Portrait = Vertical.

It's usually in the finishing section of the printer driver. Default it to Portrait.

Also this can be set in your applications. Although if it is portrait on the page and landscape when you print it, it's your driver which has been set.

If you go to Control Panel=>hardware and sound=>Devices and printers and select the printer, you can right click on it and check the Printing preferences. Don't go to properties, that's all about the hardware.

V and H are axes or screen orientation or views in the physical world.

Landscape and Portrait come from the printed world...
