I've been having issues with my connection from time to time recently and it's resulted in a few posts being lost and having to be re-created.

Now I'm fairly OK at writing BBcode in Notepad, but you have to keep your mind on what you are doing all the time. I thought about writing my own then decided that there is far too much to do in life than spend my time doing that. So I went to see if someone else has that time in their life and the skill.

And I found this. I must admit that I was a little disappointed in having to open the settings and set it to open links in the preview panel before being able to see anything in preview. But now I have I'm going to play with it and see how it goes.

I use a text editor to compose and then copy it to the board. Anything that needs BBCode gets highlighted and hit with the button in the posting frame.

Yep I know. You and I understand what it's doing at the back end and what we need to do at the front end.

I did like the URL link function. It pops up a dialog and asks for the URL and for the description and then creates a descriptive hotspot with the text hidden

It was just a thought but it's invaluable for longer posts to see how it comes out before previewing in the forum.

I guess that we both have used many different WYSIWYG editors over time....

I now use a thing called Jarte as it lets me do CO² straight out of the box, as well as save as .txt .rtf .doc and .docx. It is only small and uses MS dictionary to spell check. Not bad for a tiny little freebie.

.net is a powerful tool.

Nowadays I use Word mainly or wordpad for simple text stuff. In word, at work, I use the macro language and VB to do text reformatting. For instance my clarity project management stuff is a one way interface. Then you get this shoddy Gantt thing which is no use to man nor beast. I worked out how to get the text out of it on one page and reformat it in Word so I could get tables out in Excel and feed it back into Project....

But for day to day stuff, mainly word and notepad.
