Vocal Voices

This has just started happening recently. When I select from my bookmarks menu, or put a web address in my address bar, once the page has loaded, the address itself invariably disappears So if for example I wanted to c&p the address to put a link somewhere, I couldn't do it. It was mostly happening on second or third tabs that I might have opened, but is now happening occasionally on the first page I open on my browser. I hope I've explained this properly!!

Which browser and Operating System?

Windows 7, Firefox.

Apparently it is an "improvement" in the Firefox update. I might have found a workround by disabling something called "tabs on top" in options and there might be an extension called 'Awesome Bar' that can undo it.

I'll have another look in the morning for you Rosie, but I need sleep tonight.

That's odd, I have firefox, it's always updated automatically, and I haven't had that - no doubt it will surprise me one day soon

Yes Di, very odd. There is quite a bit of noise about this happening to some people in versions 25 to 29. There is a lot of conjecture about it being connected to the way new tabs open and that it can be resolved using about:config and changing Firefox settings; another way appears to be to hit F10 to show the Menu bar and then to tick 'Show Navigation Bar', but whatever the result it is all a bit unsatisfactory.

I have downloaded V30, the latest, and cannot get the damned thing to do anything like what Rosie describes. I'll keep looking, but it is a bit of a mystery.

Which version's yours Osc, I wonder if it's not 30 that might fix it?

I have version 30 also, Di, I get automatic updates as you do.

OK let's try a different tack.

If you have CCleaner open it and from Tools open the Firefox tab. Look there and please tell what is found. If there is a Helper, also known as a BHO, R-click on it and disable it. See if that helps.

I ran Adwcleaner and at least the address now remains in the first tab I open so that's progress. It's not the end of the world, just annoying!!
