as wot I am with computers

Our money man has sent us an attachment, with details of Grumy's pension on .

And can I open it???

It will, as long as I can read Turkish, Chinese or anything else.

Tried English, just get loads of silly squares and stuff.

Any-one help please?

Tom isn't too well, but I've asked him when he's next in the area to pop in and show me - but I'd like to be able to see what moiney we haven't got

Hi Ton.

Copy and paste the whole Turkish document to here: https://translate.google.com

Click English as the language to translate to and Bob's yer uncle.

Well that didn't work

But Tom has sent me an e-mail and I need to open "openoffice", download that and then try again.

Only problem is, Saturday morning traffic on the web means everything is soooooo slow, so that will have to wait until later

You might want to be careful with that if you have Microsoft office. It will ask you to default to OpenOffice which can, in certain circumstances (like a friend who I had to fix her office), break Ms Office to the point where you would have to reinstall it to get it working again.

There is an ODF plugin for ODF (Openoffice Document Format), files produced by Oracle.,

http://www.oracle.com/us/products/031003.htm

Not sure if it will work for 2010, but I had a feeling MS included ODF in office 2010.

I've decided to go and see Flavio in the village. He built the computer for me and installed everything we thought I'd need, but that was a long time ago now.

Best bet if you are not comfortable with installing software or filters. These things are not as simple as you might like.

Open standards. Great if everyone uses them. Sadly they don't....
