Why when i click onto VV it says --not secure

I don't know if it costs any more to provide an https connection rather than the current http one .... anyone?

Vic, VV uses the older http (protocol) rather than https. It's not such a big deal, it is just that your password details are not encrypted and you are not on a secured connection, and it is only a message board after all. If it was a shopping, banking, financial site, say, and you were giving out sensitive information such as bank card details then it would matter.

Most up to date browsers of all types will give you a warning that a site is "Not Secure" either via a pop-up or a padlock icon in the address bar. Open padlock = not secure, closed padlock = secure. Some might use an exclamation mark in a warning triangle to let you know the site is not secure.

Ossie, there is a cost for SSL/TLS certs ranging from a few $ to hundreds.

You can self cert for free but it causes a bigger security issue which is harder to work around.

Better to use http and accept that anyone monitoring the network can see your password.
