Tristar steam iron

Has anyone got one of these?

We bought one a couple of weeks ago and I wanted ( ) to use it today.

Although the instructions are in English, we can't get the lid off where the water is supposd to be poured in. We've even gone on their website, but all you get is the same instructions.

Don't want to force it off - if nowt else, it can go back to the shop, I suppose.

Thanks for your help xx

Ton can you give us a link to the actual model? I looked on amazon but they're all different.
And have you tried googling the question? :)

Thanks Di xx

Grumpy has tried google, but no joy. It's the ST-8227 model and the front bit has the bit where you put the water in. Sadly, it's so hard to move - well, we can't - that we wondered if we're doing something wrong

It's probably something really stupid  or maybe it's just hard to prise off

Ton, I just looked at a picture and it looks like you should 'just' be able to flip the blue bit out and down; using two fingers, grab it behind what I'll call the wings either side and then pull away from the iron in a sort of downwards motion?

it's on a hinge at the bottom so you wouldn't get the whole thing off

This 'un is stuck

I've tried, Grumpy has tried

But thanks for that - we'll take it back on Thursday.

Although in saying that, we bought in Castro Verde Intermarche and we'll be taking it back to Olhao. We'll see

Yaaaaaaayyyyyy SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much Meriad xx

I now have sore fingers - only managed it once, but at least it worked

Grumpy is going to do something with it tomorrow.

I had to use my 10 year old normal iron today

Ton, it shouldn't be that hard to open up which means if you're both struggling something is wrong and it won't be long before that little blue thing snaps off in your hands. If you haven't used it yet and if it's not too much hassle I'd take it back and ask for a replacement.

You can always- just in case we're all being a bit daft here (easily done LOL  ) - ask them to show you what you're meant to be doing. But reading your posts the iron sounds faulty'; definitely not human error

Agreed :)
I thought you might come back and say oh, we were pulling from the top, or something daft, 'cos I've done things like that :D
But if it's really that hard there's something wrong!

Grumpy sprayed the hingey bit with silicone stuff and it's working perfectly now :D

Just have to use it, I suppose
