Single, one and a half or double.

I need to decide what I am going to have in the kitchen.

I don't think I need a double sink - we will have a dishwasher. I only had a single sink before and most of the time that was ample but I think a bowl and a half would be nice.

What do you have and what do you think I should go for?

Bowl and a half every time for me, it's perfect
I have a washing-up bowl in the one, then can use the half for rinsing the dishes, washing veg, draining - the sieve and colander both fit it exactly. Also useful just for running the water till it's properly hot to go in the w/up bowl.
I know you have a dishwasher but you still use the sink, don't you.
Also for handwashing, which I do do, sometimes. You can wash in the one, dump into the half, back into the one for rinsing, et, etc...

We only have a single one, but personally I would prefer a one-and-a half one.

I have one and a half and find the little one useful for preparing vegetables and for draining cutlery. We have a dishwasher as well but still wash some dishes and cutlery.

One and a half is the ideal. I've had that in my last two kitchens and the half is very useful, for the reasons Di has outlined Two side by side would be too much I think - although I do have another sink unit in my utility and that's great for muddy wellies and washing out the dog's bowls etc

One and a half it is then.

One and a half here too. I really miss it when I'm in a house that only has one.
I also have a separate laundry tub that's big enough to bathe the kids in. If I didn't have a laundry tub, perhaps a double sink might be desirable?

A bit late into the discussion but also agree with the one and a half sink - my previous flat I had just a single sink and I wouldn't go back to that... and a double I think is a waste of space
