Noises from above

Woken a few mornings recently by some loud weird noises coming from the roof - I have a phobia of birds so if there ARE birds up there, I have to fetch Help.

Tom went up yesterday to investigate, could find no evidence of anything, no droppings, no nest, nothing. This morning the noises are worse than ever and I have stood at the window in my bedroom and watched.....

I saw several houses along my street with 'visitors' - a starling landing on a gutter and then disappearing up into the inside of the roof tiles with something in its mouth - a twig or something. I bet the same thing is happening to me, but they don't half make a racket!!! No chirping atm although I suspect that somewhere there will be a nest....but how come we couldn't see anything??? Where exactly would they be, if not in the actual loft, which is boarded out and has a lot of stuff in it?

I am scared to death to go up there in case I eyeball a bird *shudders*

That was what I was going to say. They don't usually come into the roof space. Mind you we had a next in the outlet bit for the extractor. Every morning at 5am when Tim used to put the light on, which was connected to the extrator he used to wake them up, I made him get dressed in the dark in the end

OMG!!! I would have DIED if I had encountered a bird in my loft!!!

It is definitely inside the building - heard it again this morning but not for long. I am not going up there - Tom will have to :|

To get in to anywhere they need a gap. You might have a tile that is ajar, or a large enough gap under the spouting. You might need to fill the hole or gap with some netting or plastic mesh to stop them getting in.

Only problem with that is you need to make sure to check it very regularly in case a bird or other animals gets caught in the netting and cannot get out :(

Sorry only just seen the replies

Had zero noises for well over a week now so whatever came in obviously wasn't too keen to stay
