Millie is definitely on the mend

Millie is doing so much better - I can't believe that just over a week ago she was hanging at deaths door!

I took her to the vet yesterday for them to look at her leg as they had managed to sew it up on Wednesday. The vet was really pleased with it and says it looks promising (I wasn't brave enough to be in there with her - I sat in the waiting room). There is a tiny patch of skin that has died but she said that would just drop off and because the skin around it is healthy, it will grow back - healing itself from the inside out.

They have bandaged it back up again (a very fetching pink bandage again but this time with an extra white bandage on her foot - no idea why. Student nurse was practising on her I think). The vet also gave me a top tip on how to get the tablets down her as we were struggling with them.

She is being very fussy with her food and won't eat her usual dried food. Normally I wouldn't pander to her - but I just want her to eat so I ended up buying some tins of the food they had been feeding her when she was in hospital and which they also gave me 3 of after her op on Wednesday. £6. For 3 tins. :o :o :o :o She'll be on Chappie or dried food this week!

She seems very much back to her old self now - she was even playing with her new toy cow this morning. She also managed to jump up to the window seat in the lounge (her favourite spot to watch the world go by) and get down again. She is pretty miserable about being confined to downstairs though. I took her over to the neighbours yesterday (the ones I was with when she was hit and who helped me out with getting her to the vets). She loves going over there as David always feeds her digestive biscuits - this time she turned her nose up at them. But when offered ham, she wolfed it down. I think she is rather enjoying being a patient now.

And we are allowed to walk her again - only very short walks up and down the lane - three or four times a day. At least it stretches her other legs and gets her out and about for a sniff. L took her first thing this morning and S has just come back with her. I think they (and Millie) are enjoying the attention from the neighbours - they all keep coming out to feed her ham!

Back to the vet again on Monday and Thursday next week for more check ups. I'll be on first name terms with them soon.

Oh and again I have to say - thank god we had insurance.

The bill hit £1000 on Wednesday!

Fortunately the vets are happy to just send the final bill onto the insurers so we don't have to pay out at all. I have to pay the £75 excess, which I will do on Monday, and I don't think the insurance company pay the vets administration charge, which I think is £5.50.

Excellent news Debih, I'm so glad Millie is getting better

And I 100% understand your relief at the pet insurance. When my cat Jamie was hit by a car many years ago the final bill came to £2500 and same as with you the vet settled directly with the insurance and all I had to pay was the excess.... phew!!!!!!!!!!!

Fusses to Millie :)

Not a sausage.

What has disappointed me the most is that his wife is a friend, although I don't see her often now because she works full time we used to spend loads of time together when the kids were small.

She has sent me a text about something and spoken to me at school about a governor thing but not once mentioned Millie or asked how she is.

I suppose you learn who your friends are over time!

I'm so glad Millie is on the mend :D :D :D :D

Very disappointing behaviour from your neighbour - I hesitate to say friend as friends don't act that way, do they? :( :(
